exeLibrary.com
We contacted a friend exeLibrary.com shortly before launch of the process library package and had them convert from their old, poorly designed backend to our LibraryScript powered backend, then had him answer just a few questions about how the script works for him.
Did you have any trouble with the conversion? The conversion process took literally half an hour, and it has been nothing but worth it. The template more or less dropped in to the layouts section with no customization, and a few minutes of work and we were up and running with all the new features - AJAXified search, a powerful administration area (much better than our old hackjob of scripts put together to do various tasks; combined with 3 or so cronjobs designed to clean up the mess they left) and more. It was all very easy, and there were no problems at all.
What is LibraryScript's best feature to your business? The main advantage of the conversion, however, has been the URL and linking structure. Our old structure was a mess of unoptimal URLs and links off in to partially implemented or totally incomplete sections of the site. A total waste of search engine power, and something which no doubt has hindered our success so far - with LibraryScript, all this is gone; the URLs are managed beautifully by the script, and furthermore, the code is so nice and clean to work with, that any changes we do want to make (such as our beta site, being developed locally) can be made very easily; not that they need to be, this script is suitable for everyone from our writers, who have never touched a web development tool, much less a web development langauge in their lives, through to our server administrators.
More so, we're considering using a copy of this script internally, combined with our local database versioning system to keep track of some personal data for our employees.
What else could you see yourself using the process package for? We've had plans for quite a while to move in to a virus database, and perhaps even publish software that scans your computer for what we've rated as "high threat" executables - much like the Hijack This! analysis plugin, but standalone. I could see people taking this package and creating DLL/library libraries, which could easily be as successful as exeLibrary has.
